Horde Shooter Templates
Create horde shooter games with Summer Engine. Get inspired by templates below, or start from scratch with AI.
A horde shooter is about holding the line against waves that keep getting bigger. Enemies come in numbers meant to overwhelm, so the game becomes managing ammo, choking points, and the moment to fall back. Co-op or solo, the thrill is surviving one more wave when the screen is full of threats.
A template gives you that loop ready: a combat-ready player, enemy waves that escalate, spawners around the map, an ammo and health loop, and a wave counter. With Summer Engine, the AI game engine compatible with Godot 4, you build on it by describing it: ask for a special enemy every fifth wave, a buyable barricade, a downed-and-revive state, or an ammo box that respawns, and the AI wires the waves and systems with you while you play to keep each wave a little more desperate than the last.
