Create AssetBackground and Backdrop Assets
A background is the first thing the player sees and the last thing they consciously notice, which is exactly why it works. This collection gathers background and backdrop art across the catalog: layered parallax scenes, full-screen sky and landscape backdrops, repeating tileable backgrounds, and themed scenery for forests, cities, space, and dungeons. Use them as the scrolling parallax behind a platformer, the static backdrop of a menu or cutscene, or the distant layer that gives a scene depth. Bring a background into Summer and ask the engine to set it up as a parallax layer that scrolls slower than the foreground, tile it horizontally, or swap it on a scene change, all built in chat. Because Summer is compatible with Godot 4, backgrounds import as standard textures ready for the native ParallaxBackground and CanvasLayer system. This is a type roll-up that crosses every theme, so you can filter it by setting. Most background art is free under CC0-style licensing fit for commercial games, with attribution-only pieces flagged on their pages. Always confirm the license before you ship.
3,127 assets available
Most assets in this collection are free to use under permissive CC0 or similar open licenses, which makes them safe for commercial games. A few entries carry attribution terms. Always confirm the license shown on the individual asset before you ship.
