Tactics Game Templates

Create tactics game games with Summer Engine. Get inspired by templates below, or start from scratch with AI.

A tactics game is about winning the encounter, not the war. You bring a small squad to a hand-built map and solve it like a puzzle: line up flanks, use cover, chain abilities, and exploit the terrain so every unit pulls its weight. The reward is the clean turn where a setup you planned three moves ago finally pays off.

A template gives you that encounter engine running: a grid map with terrain, a squad of units with distinct abilities, an enemy force with its own turns, an action and movement system, and a victory condition. With Summer Engine, the AI game engine compatible with Godot 4, you build encounters by describing them: ask for a high-ground accuracy bonus, a unit with an area attack, a flanking damage rule, or a map with a chokepoint, and the AI wires the units and maps with you while you play each mission to make sure it is tense and solvable.
