Card Battler Templates
Create card battler games with Summer Engine. Get inspired by templates below, or start from scratch with AI.
A card battler is combat fought through a deck. You build a collection, bring a deck to the table, and play cards to attack, defend, and trigger effects against an opponent doing the same. Unlike a roguelike deckbuilder, the deck is something you assemble and refine ahead of the match, so the strategy starts before the first card is drawn.
A template gives you that match running: a deck and hand with draw mechanics, cards with costs and effects, a turn-based duel against an opponent, a resource to play cards, and a health total to whittle down. With Summer Engine, the AI game engine compatible with Godot 4, you build the card pool by describing it: ask for a card that summons a creature, an effect that triggers on draw, a rarity tier, or an AI opponent that plays a control deck, and the AI wires the card data and battle logic with you while you play matches to tune the balance and synergies.
