How to use it
This browser tool reads up to 120 GIF frames at their original size, packs their visible results into one PNG atlas, and records each frame rectangle and duration in JSON.
- Choose an animated GIF or try the sample.
- Set the atlas columns and padding, then check the frame preview.
- Download the PNG and timing JSON together.
Import the PNG as an atlas. Use each JSON rectangle and duration to build the animation in your engine.
Questions
- Will the animation timing stay the same?
- The JSON records each GIF frame duration. Use those values in your engine; a sprite sheet alone has no timing.
- Why do some colors or edges look different?
- A GIF has at most 256 colors and limited transparency. The PNG atlas keeps the pixels decoded from that GIF; it cannot restore colors lost when the GIF was made.
