Construct 3 MCP
Construct 3 MCP servers and what an agent can do with a project
Scirra does not ship an MCP server for Construct 3, but the community has built several, and Construct's own folder save format makes projects readable by an outside agent. Here is what works, what to watch for, and when an engine with a full MCP server is the better fit.
The short answer
There is no official Construct 3 MCP server that we could find. Community servers fill the gap. construct3-mcp by liauw-media (MIT, v1.8.0) reads and edits projects saved as a folder, creates objects, event blocks and layouts with automatic IDs and backups, and can inject a bridge script to read state from a running preview. It does not open single file .c3p projects, but Construct's manual confirms a .c3p is only a zipped folder project. If you want an agent that runs a native desktop game, sends input and takes screenshots in the engine itself, Summer Engine does that, but it does not import Construct projects. Moving means rebuilding.
Construct 3 runs in the browser, which shapes everything about how an AI agent can work with it. There is no local editor process for an MCP server to attach to in the way Unity or Godot servers do. What an outside agent can reach is the project on disk, and a preview running in a browser tab.
That is enough for a lot of useful work, as long as the project is saved in the right format. Construct's manual describes project folders as a good option for source control because each part of the project is a separate text file. The same property lets a Claude Code or Cursor agent read event sheets, layouts and object types without guessing.
This page covers the community servers with sources, explains the .c3p and .c3proj formats, lists the mistakes that break projects, and describes the alternative of building in an engine whose MCP server also plays and checks the game.
What it does
construct3-mcp by liauw-media
The main community server and the base of the larger BeatsByZann fork. It exposes the project as resources, lists and searches objects, event sheets and layouts, maps functions and dependencies, finds orphaned objects, and creates or updates objects, event blocks, layouts and animations with validation and backups.
A bridge into a running preview
The same server can inject a bridge script that exposes the Construct runtime, so a tool attached through browser remote debugging can call functions and read global variables and object state. Remove it again with remove_runtime_bridge before you ship.
Documentation and scripting helpers
ultimate-construct3-mcp by nahuelgallo pairs offline documentation search and an ACE reference with project query, mutation and analysis tools, 44 in total. c3-skill by ToadLobe is an agent skill for Construct's JavaScript scripting interface rather than an MCP server.
No official server
We found no MCP server from Scirra and no MCP reports in Scirra's public bug or feature request trackers on GitHub. Check the Construct forum before you rely on this, since browser tools change quickly.
Summer as the engine-level alternative
Summer Engine is a desktop engine compatible with Godot 4. Its MCP server edits scenes and GDScript, presses play, sends scripted input, reads frame-stamped probes and takes screenshots inside the engine, with no bridge script to inject.
Generators that work for Construct too
Summer's cloud tools generate sprites, sprite sheets, backgrounds, sound effects and music without the Summer engine running. Download the files and add them to your Construct project.
How it works
- 1
Step 1: Save the project as a folder
In a browser that supports local files, such as Chrome, choose Menu, Project, Save as, then save to an empty folder. To convert an existing .c3p, rename it to .zip and extract it. Put the folder in Git.
- 2
Step 2: Connect a community server
Build construct3-mcp from its README and add it to your MCP client. It detects the .c3proj file in the working directory, or you pass the project path explicitly.
- 3
Step 3: Let the server write, not the agent
Ask for changes through the mutation tools so IDs, includes and the addon list stay consistent. Review the Git diff, then reopen the folder in Construct and preview.
- 4
Step 4: Rebuild in Summer only if you want the full loop
If you want the agent to play and verify a native game, rebuild a vertical slice in Summer. Layouts become scenes, object types become nodes with scripts, and your event sheets are the specification.
Two ways to run it
In Studio, or from the agent you already use
In Summer Studio
Summer Studio on the web generates sprites, backgrounds, sound effects, voice lines and music for any engine. Download the files and import them into Construct.
Open the image tab in StudioFrom Claude, Cursor or Codex via MCP
You can register the Summer MCP next to a Construct server in the same client. Summer's cloud tools such as summer_generate_image and summer_generate_audio work without the Summer desktop app, and summer_get_asset_download_url gives the agent a download link for each file.

Pricing
What it costs
- Image, Nano Banana 2 Lite (1K)
- $0.07estimate
- Sound effect, 5 seconds
- $0.01
Community Construct servers are free to run. Summer charges only for generation, from your usage balance. Construct's own subscription terms apply to the editor.
Prices are charged from your Summer usage balance. Generating assets needs a paid plan or a top-up: Pro is $20 a month and includes $20 of usage, and top-ups start at $10. The desktop engine itself is free to download.

Prompts that work, and what comes back
What an outside agent does well with a Construct folder project, and one job that needs a different engine.
Map an unfamiliar project
Prompt
Show me the event sheet include hierarchy, which layouts use which sheets, and every function with its call sites.
What you get
A dependency map from the analysis tools. This is the safest and most useful first request.
Clean up
Prompt
Find objects that no event sheet or layout references and list the images they use.
What you get
A list of orphaned objects and their assets, for you to confirm before anything is deleted.
Add gameplay logic
Prompt
Add an event block to the Game sheet that adds 10 to Score when Player overlaps Coin, then destroys the coin.
What you get
A new event block written through the server with valid IDs, ready to preview in Construct.
Read state from a preview
Prompt
Inject the runtime bridge, then tell me how I read Score and the Player's position from the running preview.
What you get
A bridge script in the project and the commands to query it through browser remote debugging. Remove it before export.
Test a jump by playing
Prompt
Launch the game, jump at the first gap twice and screenshot the result.
What you get
Construct previews run in a browser tab. The BeatsByZann fork of construct3-mcp adds tools that send mouse, touch and keyboard input over Chrome DevTools once the bridge is injected, and can serve an exported build and save screenshots of it. In Summer the agent sends input, probes the player and screenshots the native game with no bridge in the project.
What breaks when an agent edits Construct files directly
The construct3-mcp README lists the failure modes it was built to prevent. When Claude Code edits Construct JSON directly it tends to break object references and unique IDs, event sheet dependencies and includes, layout and instance relationships, plugin and behaviour configuration, and the usedAddons registry. Every one of those loads badly or not at all.
The fix is the same as in other engines with structured project files. Let a tool that understands the format make the change, commit before each session, and read the diff. JavaScript and TypeScript files in a folder project are the exception. They are plain code, Construct's manual suggests folders when you want a separate code editor for them, and agents handle them well.
When to stay in Construct
Stay if you publish browser games, if your team builds with event sheets, or if working from any device in a browser matters to you. Construct is built for that, and web export is not available in Summer yet. A community MCP server plus Git gives an outside agent enough to read, refactor and extend a Construct project safely.
When to move a Construct project to an engine with a full MCP server
Move when you want a native desktop engine and an agent that tests its own work without a bridge script or browser automation. Summer's agent runs the game, sends input, reads state at the frame it cares about, takes a screenshot and fixes what it finds. Summer builds desktop games for Windows and macOS for Steam and itch.io, and you own the project with no royalties.
Summer does not import Construct projects. The rebuild reuses your art, audio and level layouts, and your event sheets become the specification for GDScript.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official Construct 3 MCP server?
Not that we could find. Scirra has not published one, and the servers that exist are community projects such as construct3-mcp by liauw-media.
Does Construct 3 have built-in AI features?
We found no AI agent built into the Construct 3 editor in the Construct manual or on construct.net. AI help for Construct today comes from community projects such as construct3-mcp, which connect Claude Code, Cursor or Antigravity to a folder project from outside the editor.
Can an MCP server open a .c3p file?
construct3-mcp works with folder projects only. Construct's manual says a .c3p is a zipped folder project, so rename it to .zip, extract it, and point the server at the folder.
Can Claude Code edit Construct event sheets?
Yes, through a server that writes event blocks with valid IDs, such as construct3-mcp. Editing the JSON directly often breaks IDs, includes and the addon registry.
Can an agent read the state of a running Construct game?
Yes, through a bridge. construct3-mcp can inject a bridge script that exposes functions, global variables and object state to a tool attached through browser remote debugging. The BeatsByZann fork adds tools that connect over Chrome DevTools, send mouse, touch and keyboard input and wait for conditions, plus screenshots of a served build. It is a working branch, not an npm release. Remove the bridge before you export.
Can Summer import my Construct project?
No. Moving from Construct to Summer means rebuilding, with your assets reused and your event sheets as the specification. Summer does not export to the web yet, so stay in Construct for browser games.
Can I use Summer's generators with Construct?
Yes. Summer's cloud tools and Studio generate sprites, sprite sheets, sound effects and music for any engine. Each frame of a Construct animation is its own image, so slice a sheet into frames with summer_slice_asset_sheet first, then import the frames into the animation.
