AI 3D model generator for games

AI 3D model generator for games, from prompt to playable

Generate a model from text or a picture, rig it, give it motion and place it in a real game scene. One tool, several of the best 3D models, and an engine at the end instead of a download folder.

The short answer

Summer turns a text prompt or a reference image into a textured 3D model (GLB), using Hunyuan 3D, Meshy 6, Rodin 2.5 or Tripo H3.1. Characters can be auto-rigged and given motion from a curated mocap library, then placed into a Summer game scene and played. You can run it in Studio on the web or from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex through the Summer MCP.

Most AI 3D generators stop at a file. You get a GLB, then spend the afternoon fixing scale, adding a rig, finding animations and getting it into your engine. For a game, the model is the start of the job, not the end.

Summer keeps the whole chain in one place. The same Studio that generates the mesh can rig a character, and the Summer engine can place it on the ground, check it fits, and run the scene so you see it move in context. If you already build with an AI coding agent, the Summer MCP gives that agent the same generation and placement tools.

You pick the model for the job instead of being locked to one vendor. Use a fast draft model for blocking out, a premium model for hero assets and multi-view input when you have a turnaround sheet.

What it does

Text to 3D and image to 3D

Describe the asset or upload a reference image. Hunyuan 3D v3.1 Pro and Rapid and Meshy 6 take text or an image; Rodin 2.5, Meshy 6 and Tripo H3.1 also reconstruct from several views.

Multi-view input from a turnaround

Add front, left, back and right images and the model reconstructs from all of them. This is the most reliable way to keep a character on model.

Polycount you choose

Leave it on Auto or target a budget. Meshy accepts targets from 10K up to 300K faces; Hunyuan goes up to 1M for hero assets you plan to bake down.

Auto-rig and motion

Rig a humanoid character with its real height in meters, then retarget clips such as idle, walk, run or attack from a curated motion library of about 70 mocap moves.

Into the scene, not a folder

Import the model into a Summer project, snap it to the floor, test the placement and press play. The agent can do all of it in one request.

Standard files you own

Every result is a GLB you can download and use in Summer, Godot, Unity, Unreal, Blender or anything else that reads glTF.

How it works

  1. 1

Step 1: Describe it or upload a reference

Write a prompt such as "stylized treasure chest, hand-painted, low poly" or upload one to four reference images of the same object.

  2. 2

Step 2: Pick a model and a budget

Use Hunyuan 3D Rapid for quick drafts, Hunyuan 3D Pro or Meshy 6 for final assets, and set a polycount target if the asset is for mobile or web.

  3. 3

Step 3: Rig and animate characters

For characters, run auto-rig, set the height, then add motion clips from the library. Props skip this step.

  4. 4

Step 4: Place it and play

Import the GLB into your Summer project, drop it into the scene and run the game to see scale, lighting and animation in context.

Two ways to run it

In Studio, or from the agent you already use

In Summer Studio

Open the 3D tab in Studio, choose text, image or multi-view mode, pick a model and polycount, and generate. Rig characters from the same panel, preview them in the viewer, and download the GLB or send it to your library for the engine.

Open the 3D tab in Studio

From Claude, Cursor or Codex via MCP

With the Summer MCP installed, your coding agent calls summer_generate_3d, waits on the job, retargets motion with summer_generate_motion, imports the result and places it in the open scene. Generation runs on Summer servers, so it works even before the engine is open; placement needs the Summer desktop app running.

Example prompt for your agent

Generate a low poly goblin warrior with Summer, auto-rig it, give it idle and run animations, then place three of them near the camp in the main scene and run the game so I can see them.

Examples

Prompts that work, and what comes back

Prompts that hold up in production. The best results come from one clear object per prompt, a named art style, and a reference image when you have one.

Hero prop

Prompt

Ornate wooden treasure chest with iron bands, hand-painted stylized texture, closed lid

What you get

A single textured GLB centered on the origin, ready to scale and place. Pairs well with a 30K target for a mid-range PC game.

Rigged character

Prompt

Low poly goblin warrior, green skin, leather armor, holding a short spear, T-pose

What you get

A textured character mesh. Auto-rig it at 1.2 m, then add idle, run and attack clips from the motion library.

Environment kit piece

Prompt

Modular stone castle wall segment, mossy, 4 meters wide, game asset

What you get

A wall piece to duplicate along a path. For exact snapping dimensions, have the agent build the kit in your own Blender instead.

From concept art

Prompt

Upload front, side and back views of your mascot

What you get

Multi-view reconstruction that keeps the silhouette and colors of your drawing, which is the fastest way to a consistent main character.

Vehicle

Prompt

Cartoon delivery van, rounded shapes, bright yellow paint, clean topology for a racing game

What you get

A drivable-looking body mesh. The agent can attach it to a vehicle scene and wire the controls.

Mobile budget

Prompt

Low poly pine tree, flat colors, 10K faces

What you get

A lightweight prop suitable for scattering hundreds of times in a web or mobile scene.

What "game-ready" means here, honestly

Generated meshes are textured and usable in a scene straight away, and polycount targets keep them inside a budget. They are not hand-retopologized. For a hero character in a commercial game you may still want to clean the topology, bake a normal map from a high-poly generation, or build UVs your way.

Summer can help with that step too. The fabricate workflow lets your agent run Blender scripts on your own Blender install to decimate, unwrap and bake a generated model, or to build modular kit pieces with exact dimensions that a generator cannot guarantee.

When a dedicated 3D tool is the better pick

If you only ever need a mesh file and spend your day inside a 3D suite, a standalone generator with its own editing tools may suit you better. Summer is built for the case where the model has to end up moving inside a game, and where you want the rig, the motion and the scene handled in the same place.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI 3D model generator for games?

It depends on the asset. Hunyuan 3D v3.1 Pro is Summer's default for final props and characters, Hunyuan Rapid is best for fast drafts, Meshy 6 gives the most control over polycount, and Rodin 2.5 is strong when you have several reference views. Summer lets you switch between them without leaving the tool.

Can the models be rigged and animated?

Yes. Humanoid characters can be auto-rigged with their real height, then given motion clips such as idle, walk, run and attack from a curated library of about 70 mocap moves.

What file format do I get?

GLB (binary glTF). It imports directly into Summer and into Godot, Unity, Unreal and Blender.

Can I use the models in a game built with another engine?

Yes. Download the GLB and import it wherever you build. Summer is a full engine, but you do not have to make your game in it to use the generators.

Can I control the polycount?

Yes. Leave it on Auto or set a target. Meshy 6 accepts targets from 10K to 300K faces, and Hunyuan supports up to 1M for assets you plan to bake down.

Can I use a picture of my own character?

Yes. Upload one image for image-to-3D, or front, side and back views for multi-view reconstruction, which holds the design closest to your art.

Do I own the models I generate?

Summer's terms state that you retain ownership of the content you create with Summer Engine. If you publish on Steam, disclose AI-generated content in Steam's content survey.

Is it free?

The Summer engine is free to download. Generating 3D models needs a paid plan or a top-up, and each model is charged from your usage balance at the prices listed on this page.
