# Team Sports Templates

A team sports game is about orchestrating players in motion. You control one athlete at a time while teammates move with you, passing, positioning, and scoring as a unit against an opposing side. The appeal is the dynamic of a team: a play that comes together, a defense that holds, a score that felt like teamwork even when you only held one controller.

A strong base is a controllable player with switching, AI teammates and opponents who position intelligently, passing and scoring mechanics, a court or field with goals, and a match clock with scoring. The craft is in AI and controls that make a coordinated play feel deliberate rather than chaotic.

Because Summer Engine is an AI game engine compatible with Godot 4, you build the match by describing it: ask for a pass to the open teammate, automatic player switching to whoever is nearest the ball, an AI that runs a defensive formation, a shot or scoring mechanic, or a stamina system, and the AI wires the controls, AI, and scoring with you while you play your own matches to keep the team play readable and fun.
