# Sparks are for purchases inside games.

Sparks connect optional purchases across participating Summer Games titles. A creator can offer something inside their game without building a separate purchase system from scratch.

## One shared system across participating games.

If every game needs its own purchasing infrastructure, small teams have to solve the same difficult problems again and again. Players also have to understand another system each time they try a different game.

Sparks are Summer’s shared way to make in-game purchases in participating titles. A game chooses whether to use them. The creator decides what to offer, and the player chooses whether it is something they want.

## A cosmetic is a simple example.

Imagine a free game with a character outfit you like. The game explains what the outfit includes and what it costs in Sparks. You decide whether to buy it and use it in that game.

The purchase supports the game through the creator program’s earnings process. That is the basic relationship: the player gets a clearly described item, and participating creators have a way to support their work. It does not mean every game has the same items, prices or purchase mechanics.

## Buying Sparks and buying an item are different actions.

The player obtains Sparks for their account, then spends them on an offer in a participating game. Both actions need a clear confirmation of what is being purchased.

The receipt for obtaining Sparks, the account’s available balance and the item delivered by a game are different records. A completed payment should not be confused with proof that a particular in-game item has been delivered.

- Before obtaining Sparks, understand the amount and payment shown.
- Before spending them, understand the item, its price and which game it belongs to.
- After a purchase, check the relevant balance or item—not only the payment confirmation.

## Creators participate through the creator program.

Players spending Sparks and creators receiving earnings are connected, but they are not the same balance or action. Participation requirements and the applicable program conditions govern creator earnings and payments.

If you are building a game, the creator program is the place to understand that relationship. Decide how purchases fit your experience before treating them as a business model.

## Sparks are optional. Engine credits are something else.

A game does not have to use Sparks to be made with Summer. Free access, paid access and purchases inside a game are different design and distribution choices. Opening a game to mods is another separate choice.

Summer Engine credits pay for supported creation services, such as using generation tools. They are separate from player Sparks and from creator earnings. Paying to create an asset is not the same as buying an item in a game.

## A shared purchase system does not mean every item works in every game.

Sparks connect purchases across participating titles. The thing you buy still has the scope described by that game. An outfit for one game should not be assumed to work in another.

The same distinction matters when a creator distributes elsewhere. Owning and exporting a game does not by itself make a Summer purchase service available through another store. Review the services and destination requirements for that release.

## Decide whether purchases belong in your game.

The creator program explains why the economy exists and the choices you keep as a creator.
